Nice! It’s a great piano. I strongly recommended you notify Zeptepland, at the very least, one week in advance. I get the piano tuned as often as I can, but always recommend a tuning before a session if you know you’re going to use it. If you request a piano tuning, you are responsible for payment. MIXING

When is payment due?
The base price will be invoiced upon booking and must be paid in full before any work will commence. Any costs of revisions or file labeling that have accumulated throughout the process will be invoiced upon completion of the project and must be paid in full.

What is mixing?
Any previously recorded audio being worked on with the intent of sonic enhancement, often through the use of tools such as compression, equalization, panning, leveling, effects such as reverb and delay, and much more.

How does the process work?
If your project was not recorded at Zeptepland, I will need to be sent the individual tracks and/or stems by you or your recording engineer. I can also accept Logic Pro session files. If your project was recorded at Zeptepland, I can start mixing as soon as payment has been received.

I will provide an initial mix. You may have revisions you would like me to make, the first set of which are included in the base price (per song). If you require any further revisions, there will be hourly charges. Once you have approved the mix and paid any outstanding invoices, you will receive the final mix.

How do you define “set of revisions”?
A list of requested changes provided all at one time with respect to a mix.

Are revisions included in the base price?
The first set of revisions per song or audio file are included, but any subsequent set(s) will be $25 per hour starting at the second set of revisions (one hour minimum).

How do you define “individual track”?
A single audio file that is one part of the whole audio recording. These are also known as "multitracks."

How do you define “stem”?
A combination of multiple tracks printed or exported as one file.

Should I send individual tracks or stems to be mixed?
You can send either individual tracks, stems, or a combination of both to be mixed. If your project was recorded in Logic Pro, you may also send the entire digital audio workstation session file.

How can I send files to Zeptepland?
You may send the files via a file sharing service, bring it to Zeptepland on an external hard drive(s) or AirDrop them to Zeptepland at an arranged time, or ship an external hard drive(s) to Zeptepland at your expense. If return postage is requested, shipping costs from Zeptepland will be your responsibility. Zeptepland is not responsible for any lost or damaged contents en route to or from Zeptepland.

Do you prefer a specific file type?
WAV and/or AIFF files are strongly preferred. Files will generally be left at the sample rate and bit rate they are received at unless otherwise requested.

How should I export the files with regard to track length?
This is very important! You must export the individual tracks and/or stems for each song or audio recording at the same length! If all exported files are not the same length, I will have no way of knowing where they are supposed to go. Mixing cannot commence until each individual track and/or stem per song or audio recording is the same length.

How should I label exported files?
This is also very important! each individual track and/or stem must be labeled in a way that conveys what audio it contains.
Good descriptors include (but are not limited to):

• What the digital audio file consists of (instrument, vocal, etc.)
• If it’s a stem
• If it’s a double of another part
• The type & tone of an effect
• The microphone, preamp, and/or effects used during tracking or further processing
• If it’s a stereo track (and should stay that way)
• If it’s a punch-in, and if so, which track(s) it’s punching in for (for punch-ins printed or exported as individual tracks rather than as part of a stem, note in the file name which track it is a punch-in for).

You will be notified if improperly labeled files are received. If you request Zeptepland label any files, the cost will be $25 per hour (one hour minimum).

What will I receive back?
You will receive each final mix as a 24 bit WAV file unless otherwise requested. You may also request:

• Stems
• Instruments Only
• Vocals Only
• Vocals Up
• Vocals Down
• T.V. Track
• Individual Tracks

Why aren’t the mixes I’ve received as loud as a finished, mastered track?
Mixes will always be quieter than masters or finished tracks. Bringing the overall volume of a track to a commercial level takes place during the mastering process. You will often receive a version of the mix with extra processing so that you can reference the mix to a finished, mastered track. Most of those processors are then taken off when it’s sent off to mastering. Even with these extra processors, mixes may still not be as loud as mastered tracks.

What is your cancellation policy?
If no work has begun, payment that has already been made will be refunded in full. If any work has begun, payment that has already been made will not be refunded.

When does the free year of file storage begin?
The date mixing begins.

CASSETTE DIGITIZATION

When is payment due?
Upon completion of the project, an invoice will be sent to you and payment will be due before digital audio files and/or physical contents, as well as original cassette tape(s) provided, will be released.

How do you charge for these services?
Cassette digitization and audio restoration are both to be paid for by the length of audio content being digitized from each cassette tape and/or restored.

What if I request revisions to the audio file(s)?
The hourly cost of the revisions will be $20 per hour (one hour minimum). The final cost for any revisions will be added to the invoice.

What is cassette digitization?
The transfer of the audio content from the physical medium of tape to the digital realm (often for the purpose of preservation).

Can I choose whether I’d like a basic cassette digitization or cassette digitization with audio restoration included?
Yes!

Basic digitization means the cassette tape is digitized “as is” with no audio restoration, such as noise reduction, clarity enhancements, and volume consistency.

Audio restoration is an important means of preserving and enhancing the quality of digital audio files. Audio, even once digitized, may contain issues such as lack of clarity, drop-outs, volume inconsistencies, noise issues such as hiss, hum, buzz, pops & crackles, wind, and more. The digital audio files are enhanced and repaired to the best of Studio’s ability using professional audio restoration tools.

Can you also digitize microcassette tapes?
Yes!

Are my cassette tapes fragile?
Cassette tapes have a limited lifespan and are sensitive to various factors such as temperature and humidity. Therefore, it cannot be guaranteed that any cassette tapes sent to Zeptepland will be able to be played or digitized without being damaged. If any cassette tapes sent to Zeptepland are noted to be in poor condition or broken, you will be notified.

Can damaged cassette tapes be repaired?
Occasionally. Repairs cannot be guaranteed to last, but may allow for full or partial digitization to occur or, in some cases, a longer lifespan of the tape. If a repair is deemed possible, you will be given an option for Zeptepland to carry out the repair at a fixed cost of $20 per cassette tape. The final cost for any repairs. will be added to the invoice. Zeptepland is not responsible for any cassette tapes that are in poor condition or broken at any time, pre or post repair.
How can I get my physical cassette tapes to Zeptepland?
Cassette tapes may either be delivered to Zeptepland at an arranged time or shipped at your expense. Packing, shipping, postal insurance, and/or obtaining tracking information will be your responsibility. Overnight or two-day shipments are strongly recommended due to the sensitivity of tape to various factors including temperature & humidity. Make sure you carefully and appropriately pack your cassettes. Zeptepland is not responsible for any lost or damaged contents en route to or upon arrival at Zeptepland.

What is your policy on copyrighted material?
If any cassette tapes are found to have copyrighted material for which you are not the copyright holder or have not been given written consent from the copyright holder allowing for digitization of the copyrighted material, the copyrighted audio will not be digitized.

What will I receive back?
You may choose to receive the digitized audio content in any two of the following ways:

• Digitally via a file sharing service as WAV, AIFF, or MP3 files
• Uploaded to an external device(s)
• Burned to a CD(s)

Will you store or discard my cassette tapes after completion of the project?
No. Cassette tapes will always be returned to you.

How will I be sent my digitized audio content and original cassette tapes?
If you opt for the digitized audio to be sent via a file sharing service, a download link will be e-mailed to you

You may arrange a time to pick up any physical contents and/or original cassette tapes and/or bring your own external device(s) and/or blank CDs to Zeptepland for digital audio file transfers.
